Event Details

Arduino MicrocontrollerThis class will show the attendees the basics of building electronic circuits.  Attendees will learn the basics of how electronics work, what various components do, and how to build their own circuits.

Attendees will then be introduced to the hottest electronic prototyping kit, the Arduino.  The Arduino is a device that allows "hackers" to build and control circuits using a microcontroller.  A microcontroller is essentially a computer that users can upload programs and interact with.  Attendees in this class will learn how to program basic programs to control lights, respond to buttons, and interact with light and temp. sensors.

Finally, attendees will learn how to hook up their Arduino Microcontroller to a computer and build interactive applications and websites that control and respond to the electronic circuits they built.

All attendees will be able to keep all the equipment that they will be working with.  Attendees will be able to bring home their Arduinos, breadboards, wires, components, notes and the programming software.

This class is designed for people who have no or very little knowledge of electronic principals.  If you already build your own circuits, this class is not for you.

Attendees should arrive by 9am to Techsmith to check in.  Class is expected to be finished no later than 4pm.  We will have an hour lunch break (lunch is not provided).

Attendees will need to bring a laptop to this class.  The Arduino programming software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OSX 10.3+.  Windows machines are preferred.  1 USB 2.0 port is required.  Attendees will be required to install the Arduino software.  Attendees are highly encouraged to install the Eclipse IDE to follow allong in our 3rd section of the class.

Thank you to TechSmith for sponsoring this class!
